About Us
Our Mission:
To serve our SaberCats both in the arena and out in the community with pride and passion as a quality example of a true fan club whether our team is at home or on the road, at fan club gatherings, and at community events by consistently exceeding our team’s expectations and demonstrating the highest character, appreciation, and respect for the San Jose SaberCats and the Arena Football League.

What is San Jose’s 9th Man?
San Jose’s 9th Man is the official fan club of  the San Jose SaberCats.  It’s purpose is simply to organize our fans and to promote a means for fans of the SaberCats and Arena Football to meet and have fun supporting our team.

What will San Jose’s 9th Man do?
Typical club activities will include: get-togethers before home games, gatherings to watch SaberCat away games, gatherings to watch practices, road trips to support our team against Western Division rivals, and events with other teams fan club members.  During the off-season, San Jose's 9th Man will hold a variety of club activities and charitable fundraisers.

Where does the name come from?
In Arena Football, eight players are on the field for each team.  The “Ninth Man” is a universal term which refers to the home town crowd, which can give their team an advantage by cheering on their team, making it difficult for opposing teams to hear their quarterback’s play calling, and getting in the heads of opposing players.

Is it really free?
Yes!  We want to organize as many fans as possible.  By having an entirely free fan club, anyone can feel welcome to show up to any events on a whim.  This will allow more fans to participate in club events and will, in turn, make those events more fun for everyone.

Do I need to do anything to join?
It would help us to keep you informed of any special club related activities if you simply join our new streamlined e-mail list by joining the 9th Man.  Other than that, you can simply view the soon to be posted, 2008 schedule for the SaberCats, as all road games will be viewed at the official San Jose's 9th Man viewing spot, Vito's Cafe.  We are also going to be having a pre-game gathering spot for the home games.  This location will be at the Cats Lair and will allow an easy access to join the 9th Man and to meet other fans that you may have not already met.  During the 2008 season, be on the lookout for the 9th Man Fan Club station in the parking lot at the arena.  More details will be coming soon.
